Comparative evaluation of natural and acid-modified layered mineral materials as rimifon-carriers using UV/VIS, FTIR, and equilibrium sorption study

چکیده
The encapsulation of rimifon on natural (NZ) and acid-modified (AMZ) zeolites was investigated by UV/VIS, FTIR, and equilibrium sorption studies in aqueous medium. The UV/VIS and FTIR spectral investigations provided data on the nature and characteristics of the drug–zeolite complexes. The probable host–guest interactions during rimifon encapsulation in AMZ include van der Waals interactions, as well as H-bonds established between the O-atom from the carbonyl (>C=O) group and N-pyridine/N-hydrazine atoms in rimifon and zeolite OH-groups. The maximum experimental equilibrium sorption capacity of AMZ (qmax = 7.17 mg/g) was approximately 24 times higher than that of NZ. Baudu and Fritz–Schlunder isotherms almost overlapped and seemed to be the best-fitting models with regard to the experimental equilibrium data of rimifon sorption on AMZ. The unique properties of AMZ and the established high extend of rimifon encapsulation proved the possibility of its successful application as rimifon-carrier for environmental and medical purposes. بررسی توانایی زئولیت اصلاح شده با اسید برای جذب کادمیم درمحیط آبی
Abstract Background and purpose: Natural zeolites are widely used for the purification of water and wastewater. Nevertheless the selectivity of clinoptilolite (a common zeolite mineral) for cadmium is known to be particularly low. In order to enhance the zeolites’ sorption capacity for cadmium, we treated natural clinoptilolite with sulfuric acid solutions and investigated the sorption of ca...
متن کاملSynthesis of Three-Layered Magnetic Based Nanostructure for Clinical Application
The main objective of this research was to synthesize and characterize gold-coated Fe3O4 /SiO2 nanoshells for clinical applications. Magnetite nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared via co-precipitation. The results showed that smaller particles can be synthesized by decreasing the NaOH concentration, which in our case this corresponded to 35 nm by using 0.9 M of NaOH at 750 rpm. The NPs were then m...
متن کاملToxic metal removal from aqueous solution by advanced Carbon allotropes: a case study from the Sungun Copper Mine
The sorption efficiencies of graphene oxide (GO) and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) were investigated and elucidated to study their potential in treating acid mine drainage (AMD) containing Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Fe3+ and Cd2+ metal ions. Several layered GO nanosheets and f-MWCNTs were formed via the modified Hummers’ method and the acid treatment of the MWCNTs, respec...

Background: Water pollution is an important environmental problem, undoubtedly, the presence of toxic heavy metals forms the main source of water contamination. Sorption characteristics of polyurethane foams modified with bis (2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA) for the removal of zinc, lead and cadmium ions from contaminated solutions were investigated. Methods: Operating variables, such as ...

Background and Aim: This study aimed to compare the sorption and solubility properties of ACTIVA BioACTIVE liner and resin modified glass ionomer (RMGI). Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, a total of 30 samples were fabricated from each liner measuring 15 mm in diameter and 1 mm in thickness according to ISO 2009:4049. They were then divided into 6 subgroups (n=5) to assess th...
